How to Win the Financial Game and Secure Your Future

Let’s play a game. Actually, even if you don’t really want to, you are already playing the financial life game. If I asked you to rate your financial health…your wealth wellness, on a scale of 1 to 10, what would your answer be?  Why did you choose that number?

The Wealth Continuum visual above is designed to help show clients their current reality and the distance they need to travel in order to reach “Set”. A few words of warning. We have noticed a tendency by many to inflate their number/position on the graph. As Garrison Keillor used to say about Lake Wobegon on A Prairie Home Companion, “ everyone is above average”. Be honest about your overall financial health.

The idea of The Wealth Continuum is to help focus on specific actions and activities that fuel progress, while simultaneously reminding us of choices that impede progress. Financial planning can provide both a framework for making decisions as well as a guardrail against serious financial mistakes. To win the financial life game, you need to know what helps and also, what hurts.

We all have a mental list of “must haves” and “nice to haves”. The “musts” list should support our core values and contribute to our sense of security. Since financial resources are always relatively scarce, the tradeoffs that we make between the “must haves” and “nice to have” list tell the tale of our financial lives.

Our primary objective is to help change the way you think about money. All of our efforts to educate, motivate and encourage clients fall within this realm. Ready for a real conversation?
